Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from March of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

He saved 4 early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
