British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, his management team had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital follows the boxing community had expressed condolences for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
